
Kochi: K.N. Anandakumar, founder and executive director of the Sri Sathya Sai Orphanage Trust, has been remanded for two weeks in connection with the half-price scheme fraud case by the Thiruvananthapuram Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Court on Wednesday. The remand will be in effect until the 26th. Although Anandakumar had attempted to apply for interim bail, it was not granted.
Anandakumar, who was arrested by the Crime Branch, is currently undergoing treatment in a private hospital in Thiruvananthapuram. As a result, he was not brought directly to court. He has been sent to the Muvattupuzha Sub Jail.
The remand order directs that Anandakumar be produced in court at 11 AM on March 26. The court also clarified that the decision regarding the continuation of Anandakumar's treatment will be made by the superintendent of the Muvattupuzha Sub Jail.
The day before, after being taken into custody by the Crime Branch, Anandakumar experienced health issues and was admitted to a private hospital in Thiruvananthapuram.
