Kozhikode: Panic broke out at Kozhikode Medical College Hospital on Friday evening after thick smoke was seen rising from the emergency department. The source was traced to the UPS room, with a suspected short circuit believed to have triggered the incident around 8 PM.

Over 200 patients were promptly evacuated from the emergency ward as a precaution, along with critical medical equipment.

Hospital Superintendent confirmed that the situation was quickly brought under control and no injuries were reported.
