The FIR states that the accused, travelling in two vehicles, blocked the MP’s convoy

Malappuram: A person has been taken into custody after Shashi Tharoor’s gunman and driver were allegedly attacked by a five-member group in Wandoor, police said on Saturday.
Wandoor Police confirmed that a case has been registered and one individual is currently in custody. The complaint was lodged by Tharoor’s gunman, Ratheesh K P.
According to the FIR, the incident occurred at Chellithode near Thiruvali in Wandoor at approximately 7.30pm on Friday. Police said the attack happened during a roadblock at the Chelithode bridge while Tharoor was en route to attend an election campaign event for Congress leader A P Anilkumar.
The FIR states that the accused, travelling in two vehicles, blocked the MP’s convoy. When the gunman attempted to clear the obstruction, he and the driver were allegedly assaulted. Officials noted that the road was narrow and the gunman had only asked the vehicle ahead to move to allow smooth passage for the MP’s convoy.

One person was taken into custody late on Friday night. Police added that the remaining suspects have been identified and are expected to be apprehended soon.
