A significant decline in the workforce is seen under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act 2005. Although the workforce has decreased, the number of people who have completed 100 days has increased. In the previous year, the number of workers in Kerala was 17.59 lakh, and this year it reduced to 16.57 lakh. 

About 80,000 people received 100 days of employment compared to last year. In the financial year 2023–24, 5,29,248 families received 100 days of employment.

In the previous year, 4,49,638 families were employed for 100 days. There was an increase of 79,610 people. 12.56 percent of the families who got 100 days of employment in the country are from Kerala. 42,12,983 families in the country got 100 days of employment. There were a total of 35,96,873 families last year.

For the first time ever in the state, the workers received 100 days of employment. On average, a family received only 62.26 working days, which has increased to 67.35 days this year.

2,99,441 projects have been completed so far. Last year, 2,72,140 duties were completed. Currently, Rs 333 is given as wages. It has been increased to Rs 346 now. A bonus of Rs 1000 is given to those who complete 100 days of work.
