Kochi: Make-up artist in Malayalam movie industry, Haris, was nabbed by the police in connection with the case relating to blackmailing of actress Shamnna Kasim. He had played the intermediary role in the marriage proposal through which the accused had approached the actress family and had introduced Rafeeq and others. His interrogation is underway, said Kochi City Police Commissioner Vijay Sakhare.

“Apart from Shamna’s complaint, seven other cases have been registered against the accused. No links to any sex racket has been found till now. Only one woman has complained of sexual exploitation. Eight accused have been nabbed on Shamna’s plaint. Three others will be nabbed soon. No women have withdrawn the complaints. More cases will be registered in coming days,” he added.

Meanwhile, police have extended the probe to film industry after an information that the accused contacted more artistes. Details were gathered from four actors, who had participated in stage shows along with Shamna abroad.
