Palakkad/Kasaragod: The Students Federation of India (SFI), the student wing of the CPM, staged protests across parts of Kerala on Thursday in solidarity with the CJP agitation in Delhi and against the alleged police action on students participating in the demonstrations.

Thousands of SFI activists took part in the protests, carrying party flags and raising slogans against the Centre.

In Palakkad and Kanhangad in Kasaragod district, demonstrators marched towards the head post offices, where they were stopped by police, leading to confrontations.

Police had deployed heavy security and erected barricades to prevent the protesters from entering the post office premises.

Television visuals showed SFI workers in Kanhangad climbing over the barricades and entering the compound, where they clashed with police personnel.

In Palakkad, police used water cannons multiple times in an attempt to disperse the protesters. However, the demonstrators continued their protest and repeatedly tried to breach the barricades.

During the demonstrations, the protesters raised slogans condemning the Centre and denouncing the recent police action against students and Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) activists in Delhi, where protests are continuing over the alleged irregularities in the NEET examination.
