Kozhikode: SFI state president Anusree has raised concerns over the announcement in state budget to allow foreign universities to set up campuses in Kerala. Anusree opined that the organisation is actually against this move. The student leader assured that she would convey the ‘concerns’ regarding the decision to the state government. Anusree made the statement while addressing the media in Kozhikode.

“The private universities shall function under ‘government control’. The students studying in the campuses shall not face discrimination of any kind. Will discuss the matter with government officials,” said Anusree.

The government is justifying its move to allow foreign universities to set up campuses in the state by saying that the decision will attract international students to Kerala and will help in curbing migration of youngsters from the state in pursuit of education to a considerable extent. The government officials will engage in discussion with the UGC regarding the possibilities of setting up the campuses.
