Thiruvananthapuram: CPI national council member Sathyan Mokeri will be the LDF candidate in Wayanad. The decision regarding this has been taken in the CPI state executive meeting held at Thiruvananthapuram on Thursday. 

There were two names, Sathyan Mokeri and ES Bijimol,  before the party as likely candidates. The seniority in the party and experience in electoral politics have come in handy for Sathyan, as he had fought before in Wayanad. 

A three time MLA from Nadapuram from 1987 to 2001, Sathyan Mokeri had fought against Congress’ MI Shanavas in Wayanad Lok Sabha Constituency in 2014 and was defeated by a margin of 20870 votes.

The official announcement will be made after the state council meeting being held on Thursday afternoon.
