Kochi: Senior Congress leader Dr Sooranad Rajasekharan passed away on Friday at a private hospital in Kochi. He was 75.

He had been undergoing treatment for cancer for a very long time. He was serving as a member of the KPCC Political Affairs Committee and as the Managing Editor of Veekshanam newspaper.

The mortal remains are currently kept at a hospital in Ernakulam and will be taken to his native place in Chathannoor, Kollam, by 11 a.m. In accordance with his prior wishes, no public homage will be held.

Rajasekharan had held several prominent positions as KPCC General Secretary, KPCC Vice President, Chairman of the KPCC Media Department, President of the Kerala Sports Council, and former President of the Kollam Press Club.
