Thiruvananthapuram: The BJP and Youth Congress took out marches to the Secretariat seeking the resignation of Higher Education Minister K. T. Jaleel on Friday night.
The BJP march, led by party state president K. Surendran, resulted in scuffle between the police and activists. Police resorted to lathicharge in which several BJP activists were injured. They have been shifted to hospitals. Police used water cannons four times to disperse the activists.
K. Surendran said that state-wide protests will be held on Saturday seeking the resignation of K. T. Jaleel.
The protests erupted after the Enforcement Directorate questioned K. T. Jaleel in connection with the gold smuggling case. There were protests in front of Jaleel’s house in Malappuram.
