Kochi: Kerala Chief Minister VD Satheesan said he was "shocked and stunned" after coming across an AI-generated video that showed him leading a group dance.

The viral troll video, which depicts Satheesan dancing alongside a group of KSEB employees, surfaced amid the state's ongoing power crisis and frequent outages. It has since garnered millions of views on social media platforms.

Speaking at a seminar titled 'Music, Cinema and Law: Exploring the Intersections of Art, Culture and Law' here late Friday, Satheesan referred to the video and said it had gone viral on social media.

Taking the incident in a lighter vein, he joked that the video showed him dancing better than Malayalam superstar Mohanlal and his "friend", Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay.

"I have seen something on social media.. that myself leading a group dance. Yes, I was dancing better than Mohanlal and my friend, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay. I am dancing better than these two dancers," he said.

"I was stunned and shocked. They are creating videos like that. You can also watch the video on social media," he added.

Satheesan also called for amendments to existing laws to strengthen copyright protection and tackle the emerging challenges posed by artificial intelligence.

He said the legal framework would also need to evolve in response to the emergence of new technologies.

The chief minister said piracy was having a severe impact on the film industry and stressed the need for stronger legal safeguards to protect the sector.
