Thiruvananthapuram: A complaint of serious medical negligence has been lodged against Sree Avittom Thirunal (SAT) Hospital, a public women's and children's teaching hospital in Thiruvananthapuram, following the death of a young mother due to an infection, according to reports.
The deceased, Sivapriya, a resident of Karikakkam, gave birth on October 22 and was discharged from the hospital on October 25. The following day, she developed fever and was readmitted to the hospital. As her condition worsened, she was shifted to Thiruvananthapuram Medical College Hospital, where a blood culture confirmed infection.
Sivapriya died shortly thereafter while on a ventilator. Relatives allege that the infection originated at the hospital, while hospital authorities have denied the allegations.
Family members have reportedly refused to accept the body pending further investigation.
