Thiruvananthapuram: Samastha, a Sunni-Shafi’i scholarly body in Kerala, endorsed a severe stance against implementation of gender neutral ideologies in schools of Kerala. The organisation will conduct a seminar on August 24 in Kozhikode to condemn the gender neutral concepts incorporated while reforming the curriculum. Jifri Muthukkoya Thangal will inaugurate the seminar.
Samastha has decided to launch campaigns for alerting the believers over the propagation of atheism, during the prayers carried out on Fridays at mosques. The group accused that the government plans to launch a separate political agenda in the name of uniforms.
Kanthapuram Sunni faction had participated in the conference of Muslim religious organisations which attacked the government’s move to attain gender neutrality. Following the conference, Rasheed Ali Thangal had termed adopting gender neutrality as ‘Fascist’.
However, Education Minister V Sivankutty said that the gender neutral uniforms are not imposed on any schools in the state. In many schools, such uniforms were opted following the request of parents and students.
