Kochi: The government will issue a new land acquisition notification for the Angamaly- Erumeli Sabari railway line within a week, as construction on the long-delayed project resumes. The process is underway in the Revenue Department.

According to the updated Detailed Project Report (DPR), the project will require the acquisition of 303.58 hectares of land at an estimated cost of Rs 3,810 crore. A social impact study will be conducted in Karinkunnam, Manakkad, Thodupuzha in Idukki district, and Ramapuram in Kottayam district to assess local effects before finalising land prices.

Land acquisition offices are expected to reopen soon in Perumbavoor, Muvattupuzha and Pala, with authorities aiming to complete the process before the election code of conduct comes into force.
