Pathanamthitta: Kerala Motor Vehicle Department (MVD) collected Rs 1.5 lakh as fine from 50 bike riders last month for using vehicles without number plates.
The officials of the Pathanamthitta Enforcement nabbed the violators as part of 'Operation Race' to identify vehicles that do not display number plates.
The officials conducted raids, cross-examined CCTV footage and relied on public information and other methods to retrieve information about violators.
The officials requested the public to be wary about vehicles that did not carry licence plates and asked them to notify if any violators are found. The raid was launched after it was revealed that many escaped in vehicles without a number plate after committing serious crimes.
