Alappuzha: An overspeeding car rammed into some students and bike riders in Poochakkal here on Tuesday afternoon. Eight persons including four students have been injured in the accident that took place around 2 pm.
The overspeeding car lost control and rammed into 3 girl students walking on the other side of the road. In the impact of the collision, the students were thrown to the nearby canal. Following this another student, on a cycle, was also hit. Later the car rammed into a post and came to a halt. The injured students have been identified as Anakha, Archana, Chandana and Rakhi of Sreekandeswaram school. The CCTV visuals of the accident was obtained.
Earlier the car had rammed into a bike injuring two persons travelling on it.
It is believed that the driver of the car was in an inebriated state. They also have been admitted to hospital.
