Thiruvananthapuram: Prominent journalist KG Parameswaran Nair has passed away at the age of 94. He breathed his last at his residence on Society Road, Trikkannapuram, Thiruvananthapuram. He served as a journalist with Kerala Kaumudi for 35 years.

He authored several books, including 'Kerala Niyamasabha Charithravum Dharmavum' (The History and Duty of the Kerala Legislative Assembly). He was honoured with numerous accolades, including the State Government's Swadeshabhimani-Kesari Award for 2021, the Pattom Thanu Pillai Award, the KC Sebastian Award, the K Vijayaraghavan Award, the PC Sukumaran Nair Award, the G Karthikeyan Memorial Award for best legislative reporting and the Swadeshabhimani Ramakrishna Pillai Award. He was also honoured by the Legislative Assembly for his long-standing service as an assembly correspondent.

He is survived by wife Subhadramma, who is a music teacher and dubbing artist. His children are Rajeswari (Hindustan Latex) and Suja (LIC Housing Finance). His sons-in-law are Rajasekharan (former announcer, All India Radio) and Sunil Kumar (Employees' Provident Fund).

CM condoles the demise 

Chief Minister V D Satheesan condoled the passing of K G Parameswaran Nair, remembering him as a correspondent who understood the true depth and breadth of legislative reporting.

“During his three-and-a-half-decade career as a journalist with Kerala Kaumudi, he completely transformed the conventional methods and nature of assembly reporting. For newcomers to the Assembly like myself at the time, K G Parameswaran Nair's reports served as a vital reference.

“His book, 'Kerala Niyamasabha Charithravum Dharmavum', was a culmination of his extensive experiences evolved into words and sentences. The Legislative Assembly had honoured him for his long tenure covering the House. He was also the recipient of several accolades, including those from the State Government. Tributes to K.G. Parameswaran Nair. Sharing in the grief of his family members and friends,” he wrote.
