Thiruvananthapuram: Minister PA Mohamed Riyas on Tuesday said that policies of the Kerala government have ensured the safety of religious minorities in the state. This has prompted the Sangh Parivar to attack the state government, he added.
The minister pointed out that Sangh Parivar leaders had even directed (Hindus) not to hang Christmas stars in their residences. The attacks on minorities threaten secularist values of the country, he added. The minister’s remarks came after BJP leaders visited bishop's houses and residences of Christian communities on Easter day as part of their “outreach” programme. Prime minister Narendra Modi also visited a church in Delhi.
“Every political party has the right to visit houses of public. However, in Kerala, we usually do not choose the houses of a particular community to visit,” said Riyas. He added that anti-minority remarks were aplenty in RSS chiefs' speeches on Vijayadasami day.
Riyas also exhibited a copy of the cover page of Organiser magazine, the mouthpiece of RSS, and said, "The article titled 'Disastrous Celebrations' is about Christmas, written by RSS chief Mohan Bhagawat. This is a very recent article."
