The Kerala Congress (M) suffers a massive blow in Pathanamthitta as its district vice president and over 100 workers resign to join the Congress party.

Pathanamthitta: A major internal crisis has erupted within the district unit of the Kerala Congress (M). Prominent leaders, including the district vice president, alongside over a hundred party workers, have quit the party. Reports indicate that they are set to join the Congress party today. The group of defecting workers is being led by district vice president P K Jacob, secretary Sam Joykutty and state committee member Sunil Valanchuzhi.
The rebel leaders have primarily pointed to the "dictatorial attitude" of the district president as the driving factor behind their protest. Furthermore, they have expressed deep discontent over the setbacks suffered by the party in the recent local body and assembly elections. Having tendered their resignations on Saturday, the group is expected to officially accept Congress membership at the Pathanamthitta DCC office on Sunday.
