Kochi: Kerala Bank President Gopi Kottamurikkal on Sunday rebutted media reports about the institution’s willingness to extend financial support to Karuvannur Cooperative Bank. Kottamurikkal maintained that the narrative is a fabricated one and said that “as of October 1 no authorities concerned have approached the institution with such a request”.
He was interacting with Mathrubhumi News. According to Kottamurikkal, it is neither Kerala Bank’s responsibility nor any authorities concerned have intimated for such intervention. He said that some forces are trying to drag Kerala Bank into the ‘scene’--the scam at Karuvannur Cooperative Bank.
However, Kottamurikkal claimed that the bank will extend financial support to Karuvannur Cooperative Bank if CPM asks. He highlighted that he will have allegiance to party dictum rather than RBI direction.
“At the momentum, neither NABARD nor RBI has not given any intimations that Kerala Bank should not aid Karuvannur Cooperative Bank,” he added.
