Kunnamkulam: A rat was spotted scurrying and eating prepared Al Faham at the Alami Arabic restaurant here on Friday. Following an inspection by Atlee P. John, the Clean City Manager (CCM) of the municipality under the Public Health & Environment Department, the restaurant has been ordered to remain closed for a week.

The restaurant is managed by Girish, a native of Amala Nagar, with Thaikkad native KB Shibu as the licensee.

A customer visiting the eatery at 8:30 pm on Friday took a photo of a rat nibbling on the prepared Al Faham. This image was then sent to the CCM.

Upon receiving the information, an inspection was carried out at the restaurant on Pattambi Road. Health department officials confirmed that all the prepared food items in the restaurant had been contaminated by rats.
