
Thiruvananthapuram: The policy address by Governor Arif Mohammed Khan was just part of his constitutional duty and not any praise for the state government, said Opposition Leader Ramesh Chennithala.
He also said that the Opposition staged walkout as the Assembly session was presided over by Speaker P Sreeramakrishnan who was facing allegations in connection with dollar smuggling case.
Speaking to media after the walkout, Chennitala stated that it was first time in history that an Assembly Speaker becoming accused in smuggling case. The Speaker matches the Chief Minister. On one side government is corrupt and on the other side the Assembly has become centre of corruption. Everything said in the policy address was aimed to mislead the public, he added.
The court had mentioned about an accused holding constitutional post in dollar smuggling case. This person was the Speaker. He, who maligned the sacred house of democracy, should resign, Chennithala demanded.
Governor today said that he was just doing his constitutional duty and has nothing to say of the government, Chennithala clarified.
