Thiruvananthapuram: The raid by the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau, Kerala (VACB) at the Parassala checkpost revealed that officials allegedly facilitated smuggling of animals, including chicken, to Kerala without inspections.
The raid was conducted based on information that animals were smuggled into the state via checkpost without inspection. Further, complaints were raised against a female veterinary doctor for accepting bribe to permit vehicles to pass through the checkpost.
Following this, a raid was conducted at night when the female doctor was on duty. Officials seized Rs 5700 and two chickens suspected to have been received as bribe. However, the doctor argued that chicken was kept aside to collect blood samples.
