Mananthavady: Rahul Gandhi visited the house of Ajeesh who was killed by wild elephant ‘Belur Makhana’ in Mananthavady earlier this month.
“I am always there for you people. You can call me anytime in case you need help,” said Rahul, holding Ajeesh’s nine-year-old son close to him.
As he talked, the teary-eyed family members kept looking at him. The Congress leader interacted with the father, mother and wife of the deceased and assured to help them wade through the difficult times.
“Aji’s kids are brave. I am sure they will gather courage to overcome this tragedy. We are in constant touch with the forest officials in Karnataka as well, and officials are striving hard to find a solution. All necessary support will be provided to Aji’s family members,” said Rahul Gandhi.
Rahul Gandhi had arrived at Ajeesh’s house at 7:35 AM this morning. He spent nearly 20 minutes talking to his family. However, Rahul refused to interact with the media. He had travelled to Wayanad from Kannur by road.
Meanwhile, efforts of the forest officials to dart ‘Belur Makhana’ failed yet again on Saturday as well.
