The young leader reasserted his loyalty to the party, stating that he is not against it despite mounting pressure over alleged sexual assault charges filed against him.

Thiruvanathapuram: After attending the assembly session on Monday, Congress leader Rahul Mamkoottathil reiterated his loyalty to the party, stating that he is not against it despite mounting pressure over alleged sexual assault charges filed against him.
Speaking to reporters, Mamkoottathil said he has always stood by the Congress leadership. “I have no intention of remaining silent, but I would like to reassert that I have not disobeyed the party leadership. Let the investigation take its course,” he told the media.
SFI activists blocked his vehicle near the MLA Hostel and staged a protest for a short time. They were later removed by the police.
The young leader’s remarks come amid escalating political tensions, with opposition parties intensifying their onslaught against him in the backdrop of the alleged sexual assault cases, which has garnered widespread political attention.
Rahul Mamkoottathil resigned as the state president of the Youth Congress after Malayalam actress Rini Ann George alleged misconduct by ‘a young leader’ of a prominent political party, triggering protests from the BJP and the DYFI, the youth wing of the CPM. Following this, additional complaints surfaced from other women and a transgender person, leading to his suspension from the Congress party.
