Kozhikode: It has come to light that Rahul P Gopal, who is facing attempted murder charges in connection with dowry abuse case, has previously married a native of Kottayam.

According to Rahul’s sister, he had previously registered a marriage with a dentist from Poonjar and planned to take her to Germany immediately after wedding. However, the marriage was called off a month before the religious ceremony. Later, a mutual divorce petition was filed. 

"The procedures for divorce were nearing completion. It was with this knowledge that the girl from North Paravur agreed to proceed with the marriage," revealed his sister. 

Meanwhile, Rahul is said to have met the families of both young women through a matrimonial service. It was even on the same day that he went to see both potential brides. 

"The North Paravur girl had taken the phone number of Rahul and his friends. Later, when she learned that the marriage with the Poonjar girl had been called off, she contacted Rahul through his friends and expressed her desire to marry him. She took the initiative to carry out the wedding on the previously decided date. However, the couple had an argument on the wedding eve. On that day, both were under the influence of alcohol," the sister said.

The investigation team has confirmed Rahul's marriage plans with the Kottayam resident. Meanwhile, the police have decided to issue a lookout notice to prevent Rahul from leaving the country.
