Palakkad: Presence of rabies virus was confirmed in the dog that bit a kid in Attappady here.

The dog had died on Sunday. The virus was confirmed in today's test at Regional Disease Diagnostic Laboratory (RDDL) in Palakkad.

Sholayur native Akash (3) was bitten by the dog on Thiruvonam day in front of his house. His mother was also present at the front yard. Though she rescued him, Akash suffered bites on his face.

The severely injured boy was immediately given treatment at Kottathara hospital. He was vaccinated and the wounds are healing now. He will be kept under observation for a couple more days.
