Parappanangadi: Two members of a quotation gang who had arrived in a car at the Alungal beach in Chettipadi carrying weapons were taken into custody. Swords and guns were apparently seized from the vehicle.
The arrestees were identified as Aakash and Himasagar, both 30-years-old and natives of Vypin.
It is now known that there were five passengers in the car. However, as the locals blocked their vehicle, three of them ran away, the remaining two were handed over to the police. The incident happened at around 8 PM. The gang is suspected to be based in Mattancherry.
The goons had reportedly arrived at the beach in connection with a dispute over gold. As the people started questioning them, one among the group threatened the crowd by pointing a gun towards them. Enraged locals jointly caught hold of two of the accused. Parappannagadi police soon arrived at the scene. But people who were initially reluctant to hand over the accused to the cops were pacified later on by the intervention of certain public activists, and the two were eventually apprehended.
