The complaint alleges the incident occurred at a hotel during film selections for IFFK.

Thiruvananthapuram: Noted Malayalam filmmaker and former legislator PT Kunju Muhammad was arrested on Wednesday in connection with a molestation complaint filed by a woman working in the film industry, local police confirmed.
According to authorities, Muhammad reported to the Cantonment Police Station on Tuesday for interrogation. His arrest was formally recorded before he was released on bail, following a prior directive from the Thiruvananthapuram Additional District and Sessions Court.
The court had recently granted the filmmaker relief, ordering him to appear before investigators within seven days. It further mandated that police release him on bail in the event of an arrest, provided he cooperated fully with the ongoing probe.
The case was registered earlier this month following a complaint from a woman who alleged that Muhammad molested her at a hotel. The incident reportedly took place while the two were staying at the facility to screen and select Malayalam films for the most recent International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK).
Muhammad, a prominent figure in the regional cinema industry as both a director and producer, previously served as a Left-supported independent Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) in Kerala.
