Kochi: Protests erupted at the Prasannapuram church during the reading of Pastoral Letter related to the uniform conduct of the Holy Mass. A group of protestors barged onto the altar and created a ruckus as soon as the vicar started reading the Pastoral Letter.
Another group of believers stepped up against this. Both the groups engaged in heated arguments for a long time and confusion prevailed. The protests started over the decision to implement the uniform way of conducting the Holy Mass across churches.
The church is under the Angamaly Archdiocese. The protestors argued that Cardinal Mar George Alencherry’s pastoral epistles will not be allowed to be read in the church. The protestors also burned the pastoral letter in front of the church.
