Kochi: A complaint was lodged against male police officials for allegedly manhandling a female KSU activist while she was protesting against Kerala chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Saturday.

Based on the complaint, Kochi DCP has directed the Thrikkakara assistant commissioner to probe the incident and submit a report.

Ernakulam DCC president Muhammed Shiyas filed a complaint seeking strict action against ‘cops who outraged the modesty of a woman’.

Miva Jolly, a KSU activist, alleged that police have physically assaulted, banged her head and verbally abused her.

Youth Congress activists staged a protest by waving black flags at chief minister, demanding action against the accused of forging fake birth certificates for adoption in Kalamassery Medical College.

Miva alleged that no female cops were present during the protest, and the officers physically assaulted her. Though female cops arrived later, the Kalamassery CI misbehaved and forced me to enter the police vehicle, she added.
