Thiruvananthapuram: A report implicating Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) MR Ajith Kumar over the disruption of Thrissur Pooram 2024 has been submitted to Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. The report alleges serious lapses in duty on the part of the officer.

The document, approved by the Home Secretary, recommends disciplinary action and confirms Ajith Kumar’s failure to act during a law and order breakdown.

Inquiry conducted by top official before retirement

The inquiry was led by DGP Sheikh Darvesh Sahib, who served as the state police chief during the incident. Before retiring, he submitted the report to the Home Department. Following its acceptance, the Home Secretary forwarded it to the Chief Minister, stressing the need for action.

Failure to act despite presence on the scene

The investigation specifically examined whether ADGP Ajith Kumar had committed any lapse during the incident. It found that although he was present at the scene, he failed to intervene during the disruption, despite being in charge of law and order at the time.

The report categorically described this inaction as a serious dereliction of duty.
