Thiruvananthapuram: The PSC rank lists for the appointments to Sub Inspector, Civil Police Officer, Civil Excise Officer, Fireman, Excise Inspector and Assistant Jailor expired a year ago. However, the new lists may not be prepared any time soon as the process is still underway.

Due to the changes in the exam pattern, the preliminary exam for all these posts has just concluded. But its results are not yet out. Main exam, physical fitness test and certificate verification have to be completed before publishing the list. The aspirants fear that the process would not be completed even in 2022.

Meanwhile, PSC has been blaming the Covid-19 pandemic for the delay in the recruitment process. The government is not in favour of extending the validity of the rank lists. Previous governments used to rely on validity extensions following the pressure from the rank holders.

The PSC says it is expediting the process by conducting exams even on Sundays. The main exam to the above said posts is expected to be held in February 2022. The lists would be ready by mid-2022, PSC believes.
