Kannur: A police report warned of extreme caution in Kannur district as there is high chance of an open clash between SDPI and RSS. The report was prepared by surveilling towns, villages and social media platforms following the Palakkad twin murders.
Police found that hate speeches trigger skirmishes in the district, especially at Kannavam and vicinities. An RSS activist Shyamaprasad and SDPI worker Muhammed Salahuddin were killed in Kannavam in 2018 and 2020 respectively. Police informed that the rumours and campaigns driven by targeting some persons could not be considered as trivial. Hence, the regions, including Kannavam, Peravoor, Pulikkal, and Kottiyoor, are under police surveillance.
The report advocated to adopt severe actions against those who propagate hate speeches and attempt communal polarisation.
