Palakkad: A police team once again conducted an inspection at Palakkad’s KPM Hotel. Information was gathered from the hotel’s CEO, Prasad Nair.

Officials are verifying the authenticity of the claim that Congress workers were involved in bringing illegal money into the hotel for the upcoming Palakkad by-election, and that efforts were made to exchange the money. The investigation team seized items, including a hard disk.

It is reported that there are 22 CCTV cameras installed at the hotel, and the footage needs to be examined. The team must investigate the dramatic events that unfolded from the night until the early hours of the morning. There is a need for clarity on whether, as alleged, money was smuggled in a blue trolley bag, or if such a bag even existed.

Cyber Cell experts and the police Special Branch team have arrived at the location. The investigation is being conducted by multiple departments. According to senior police officials, the inspection was based on reliable information, and the investigation will be overseen by the district collector. This new development comes at a critical juncture.

On Tuesday night, the police carried out a search of the hotel rooms where Congress leaders were staying, based on accusations of possessing unaccounted money. This led to large-scale protests from the UDF.
