
Thiruvananthapuram: Police booked protesters who blocked the ambulance carrying Ambili’s body when it was brought to the house for cremation. Ambili and Rajan died of burn injuries while giving a suicide threat to resist eviction from their house. The ambulance was blocked by 30 protestors including the couple’s younger son Ranjith. Around 30 people have been booked by the police in this regard. However, no names have been mentioned.
The protest took place when Ambili’s body was brought to the house on Tuesday. The ambulance was stopped by the locals near the house. The protestors wanted the district collector to assure them that their demands would be met. The protestors blocked the ambulance for 4 hours. Finally, the protest was called off after the district collector visited the place.
Although, DGP ordered an investigation into the death of Rajan and Ambili, no progress happened so far. Thiruvananthapuram Rural SP Ashok Kumar was in-charge of the investigation. However, the officers are yet to take statements from locals or family members in this regard.
Meanwhile, District Collector Navjyoth Khose has ordered a probe into the land where the family’s house is situated. The Collector has ordered Neyyattinkara Tehsildar to look into the ownership of the land, where neighbor Vasantha had laid claim.
