Thrissur: Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived at the famous Lord Krishna temple of  Guruvayur here on Wednesday morning. He offered prayers at the temple dressed in a traditional attire of 'mundu' and 'veshti' (white shawl).

Modi arrived in Guruvayur at around 7.35 am by helicopter which landed at the Sree Krishna College ground where hundreds of BJP supporters and workers were gathered for hours to welcome him.

People of all ages welcomed the PM at the helipad waving BJP flags and wearing hats and caps in party colours.

From the helipad, Modi went to the Sreevalsam guest house where he changed into the traditional Kerala attire before going to the temple to offer prayers. He will have 'thulabharam' with lotus flowers at the temple. He had lotus 'thulabharam' during his 2019 visit to the temple.

Later, he will attend the marriage of actor-turned-politician Suresh Gopi's daughter. The ‘muhurtham’ for the marriage is set between 8:45 am-9:15 am. The PM will also greet other couples who are getting married at the same time. Around 60 weddings are happening at the same time at the temple.

Meanwhile, the PM will leave the place immediately after the ‘tie the knot’ ceremony of the wedding. He won’t be attending the reception that is being organised at the Gokulam Park. A stellar line-up of guests will grace the wedding. According to reports, actors Mohanlal, Mammootty, Jayaram, and Dileep will attend the event.

PM will leave for Thriprayar by 9:45 am. He will take the chopper and is expected to arrive at the helipad in Vallappad High School ground by 10:15 am. He will have his darshan at Thriprayar Shree Ramaswami Temple by 10:30 am. It may be noted that Modi’s visit comes at a time when Ayodhya Ram Temple consecration ceremony is around the corner. Critics deem his visit as an opportunity for theatrics in Kerala before the event, as Thriprayar Shree Ramaswami Temple is one of the famous Ram temples in India.
