Kozhikode: IUML leader K M Shaji has accused that people with vested interests are trying to portray the issue related to the additional plus one batches as being the problems of only the Muslims in Malappuram. He was talking to the media on the occasion of the IUML protest in Kozhikode demanding additional plus one batches.

“What is happening in Malabar is against the government policy. Sixty students are being accommodated into classes which can actually  have a maximum of only 30 students,” alleged K M Shaji.

Meanwhile, M K Muneer sounded a warning to the ruling government saying that they are soon going to realise the power of people. He also said that “IUML will always be in the forefront when it comes to matters affecting common people”.

“Students are having a torrid time out there. We definitely need new batches. The government doesn’t have a problem setting up air conditioners at the cattle shed in Cliff House, nor do they face fund crunch while letting their ministers go for foreign trips. But they are turning a blind eye on the pressing issues affecting the students in the state,” alleged Muneer.

E T Mohammed Basheer stated that “the government is gambling with the future of students”.
