Thiruvananthapuram: Congress MLA Shafi Parambil launched a scathing attack against Kerala Chief Minister and the CPM-led LDF government on Tuesday.
Addressing the assembly after moving a notice for an adjournment motion to discuss the shortage of essential food products at Supplyco outlets, Congress MLA sarcastically pointed out that while the value of everything else in the state is increasing, the Chief Minister himself seems to be an exception to this trend.
Minister GR Anil countered by stating that Congress is aiming to bring corporate players into the retail market through negative campaigns against Supplyco.
“The wife of the Minister of Food (R Latha Devi), who is a member of CPI state council, has recognized the unfortunate state of affairs in Kerala. However, the minister is still struggling to concede and acknowledge the truth."
“People in the state are returning empty-handed from the Maveli stores. It’s high time for the minister to speak up against the indifferent attitude of the government in power towards the department. The plight of the stores right now is actually a disgrace to the original Maveli,” Shafi said, taking a dig at the Pinarayi-led government.
Unfazed by criticisms, GR Anil reassured the house that the crisis was only temporary and instilled confidence in the members by saying that the government would overcome the challenges.
