Palakkad: Senior CPM leader and former MLA PK Sasi is likely to resign from the KTDC chairman post following the party’s decision to remove him from all elected positions within the party. Sasi is expected to step down voluntarily to preempt a formal request from the CPM. It is also learnt that he is also likely to appeal against the disciplinary action.
Following an assessment that the party may suggest he resign from the KTDC chairman post due to disciplinary action, he is likely to resign even before that. An appeal against the action of the district committee shall be filed in the state committee. He will file an appeal stating that the action against him was not in accordance with the rules.
It was decided by the district secretariat meeting held in the presence of CPM state secretary M V Govindan to remove district committee member P K Sasi from all elected party positions. Allegations of irregularities in the activities of the party-controlled co-operative college in Mannarkkad and the receipt of funds from party-controlled co-operative institutions have been leveled against Sasi.
