Venjaramoodu: The village of Pirappancode is setting a model by embracing religious harmony. The vicar and others from the church heartily welcomed the ‘Pallivetta’ procession by lighting a lamp in front of Lord Sree Krishna’s idol. The temple committee members also lit candles before the picture of Jesus Christ as they welcomed the Way of the Cross. This act of amity grazed all of Kerala with a sort of relief as it is struggling to recover from the blows landed by growing communal violence in the state.  

The ‘Pallivetta’ in connection with the 10-day program at Sreekrishna Swami Temple in Pirappancode was held on Thursday night. The return procession of the ‘Pallivetta’ was through the main road in front of the Saint Mother Teresa Church in Thycaud. The procession upon reaching the entrance of the church was welcomed by the vicar Fr. Jose Kizhakkedath. A small makeshift tent was set up and had ‘nirapara’, a lamp and an idol of Sree Krishna. The officials from St Johns Hospital also joined in welcoming the procession. Fr. Jose Kizhakkedath said that it was a culmination of unity, love and harmony of the land. 

When the Way of the Cross procession started from the church and reached in front of the temple on Friday, it was received by the temple committee members. There was a huge rush at the temple as it was Vishu day. All the devotees of the temple joined in welcoming the procession as the candles kept in front of the picture of Jesus Christ were lighted.
