Kollam: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has uncovered that the banned-outfit Popular Front of India (PFI) had assigned Mohammed Sadik, who was earlier arrested from Kollam, to collect information on programmes of the RSS and the BJP.
NIA also found that he collected information, including that of guests attending the events.
Earlier, Sadik revealed during questioning that he was a 'fruit seller' before he was recruited by the banned outfit to act as a 'reporter'.
The agency has recovered pamphlets of RSS events from Sadik. The NIA plans to take Sadik into custody again. He was arrested by the NIA on January 17.
The NIA had earlier said that the group was conspiring to create enmity between members of different religions and groups prejudicial to the maintenance of peace and communal harmony.
The NIA said they were conspiring to establish Islamic rule in India by committing terrorist acts as a part of 'jihad'.
Meanwhile, those arrested in the Sreenivasan murder case will also face trial in the PFI case. According to the NIA, Sreenivasan was murdered by the accused after preparing a hit list.
Sreenivasan was attacked and killed by a six-member gang at his motorbike shop in Melamuri on 16 April 2022. Police had arrested 21 people, including SDPI-PFI activists, in the case.
