
Pathanamthitta: A bomb threat sent via email to the Pathanamthitta District Collectorate in Kerala on Tuesday morning triggered a massive security inspection.
The message, received from an email ID named Asif Gafoor, warned of an RDX blast and demanded immediate evacuation, citing opposition to the hanging of Afzal Guru.
The threatening email was received at 6:48 am on the official email ID of the Pathanamthitta District Collector. The email claimed that an RDX bomb would be detonated at the Collectorate and urged authorities to evacuate employees immediately.
Officials became aware of the threat upon arriving at work around 10 am, after which the matter was promptly reported to the Special Branch.
Upon receiving the alert, the bomb squad and dog squad conducted a thorough inspection of the Collector’s chamber and all four floors of the building. As a precautionary measure, all employees were evacuated.
Speaking on the situation, ADM B Jyothi confirmed that the search operation is ongoing. District Collector S. Premkrishnan was present at the scene, overseeing the security measures.
