Kozhikode: CPM state leadership summoned Kozhikode mayor Beena Philip who is in troubled water for attending an event organised by RSS.

Earlier, the CPM Kozhikode unit came out against the mayor’s participation in an event hosted by RSS and the state committee's move is reportedly a continuation of the same.

CPM Kozhikode unit secretary P Mohan and other prominent leaders are also camping in Thiruvananthapuram. Following this, CPM leadership summoned Kozhikode Mayor to Thiruvananthapuram.

Though the mayor downplayed the act and maintained that she had not received any stringent direction restricting participation in such events, the district unit did not back her.

Meanwhile, Left front loyalists on social media are demanding her removal from the position. However, it is learnt that the CPM state committee will not resort to such stringent actions.

Beena courted controversy after she participated in a programme of RSS-affiliated Balagokulam in Kozhikode. Apart from participation, Beena during his speech said that Kerala is way behind in the child care system when compared to north Indian states.
