Pandalam: Citing irregularities in the functioning of BJP-led Pandalam municipality, the municipal secretary forwarded a letter the Local Self Government (LSG) Department principal secretary seeking advice on dissolution of the council. The letter has stressed that the advice of Ombudsman should be sought over the matter.
Notably, Pandalam municipality is one among the two municipal councils administered by BJP. The rivals CPM and Congress are constantly up in arm against the BJP administration over their functioning. Recently, the officials in the municipality have also staged a protest against the municipal council over the rearrangement of chairs. However, ultimately it is the citizens who get affected by the rift.
Meanwhile, in the letter, the municipal secretary has listed many irregularities and claimed that the administration is not following the obliged legal procedures. The attention of LSG has been sought to pinpoint illegal activities under the garb of sanitation society and administration’s failure in passing the municipality budget as surplus budget.
There are many irregularities in the appointement of temporary sanitation workers, said the letter. Similarly, the municipality budget which was supposed to be passed as surplus budget before March 31, has not been passed yet.
