
Kozhikode: Believers across the world celebrated Palm Sunday commemorating the entry of Jesus Christ to Jerusalem. The day also marks the beginning of the Holy Week which leads to Easter, the day of Christ’s resurrection. The name ‘Palm Sunday’ comes from the palm branches waved by crowds of people who greeted and welcomed Christ into Jerusalem city.
Churches across Kerala held Palm Sunday service by distributing palm leaves to the believers. Processions of devotees holding fresh cut palm leaves, singing prayers and hymns, was seen all over Kerala today. Prayers and Palm Sunday services will be held in almost all churches in the morning itself. Masses will also be held throughout the week, especially on Maundy Thursday, Good Friday and Easter day.
