Palakkad: Dramatic scenes unfolded when LDF candidate for Palakkad bypoll Dr P Sarin was ignored by his former party colleagues and UDF candidate Rahul Mamkootathil as well as MP Shafi Parambil during a wedding ceremony here on Sunday. They were all present for BJP leader Nateshan's daughter. 

Despite Sarin calling out his name several times, Rahul did not extend his hand. Meanwhile, Rahul and Shafi greeted and embraced former Congress leader A V Gopinathan. 

Sarin called out to Rahul multiple times, and when he did not respond, he remarked that it was disappointing. Dr Sarin exclaimed “Shame!” However he later said he had no issues with the situation.

Afterward, Sarin commented to the media, "people are watching this”. 

He said, "Gopi Ettan and I are standing together. They embraced Gopi Ettan from both sides. I was standing nearby and wondered what the difference was between what Gopi Ettan did and I did. I said to Shafi that I am here, but the response was ‘No’; Rahul did not see me," he explained.

Upon arriving at the wedding venue, Sarin approached the bride and groom directly. Shortly after, A V Gopinathan arrived, and as the two spoke and made their way down from the stage, Rahul appeared alongside Shafi. Although Shafi and Rahul greeted A V Gopinathan, they did not acknowledge Sarin.

At this point, Sarin requested both of them to extend a hand, but they continued on without responding.

Meanwhile Rahul Mamkootathil said, "I am someone who walks the talk. I don't put on a show for the channel to get news... the other day, he went to Oommen Chandy's grave to create news. This morning, he dismissed Oommen Chandy. I am someone with a bit of sincerity. So I can’t act that way." 

Shafi Parmabil at the same time said, "Sarin told me that he is on the other side, and I replied that he should continue to be right there." 

Earlier, a similar situation had occurred at a cinema theatre in Palakkad as well, where both were unwilling to even make eye contact with each other while attending a film.
