Kottayam: Police reveal that the accused Abhishek Baiju had planned to murder Pala St Thomas College student Nithina Mol. It is believed that he bought the blade a week before the murder and got trained on how to use it. The police are looking into how Abhishek, a youngster with no criminal background, committed the murder. Abhishek had sent a message to his friend saying he would kill Nithina and had also threatened her mother. 

According to the statement given by Abhishek to police, he had not planned to kill her and that his intention was to inflict injuries on himself and scare Nithina. Police have ruled out the genuineness of his statements. The remand report by the police show evidence that the murder was premeditated. The accused picked out the paper cutter as the weapon for the crime a week ago and started planning the murder. He also bought a new blade for the cutter. 

Nithina’s vocal cord was severed following the attack by Abhishek. Arm Wrestling champion Abhishek is said to have faced no trouble in handling the resistance shown by Nithina. Police have not received any information about the involvement of any other people in the crime. But the police may question Abhishek’s friend to whom he had sent the text message. He will also be taken to the shop in Koothattukulam to collect evidence. 

The postmortem report reveals that Nithina died of excessive bleeding. The cut on her neck was deep and wide. Her blood vessels had also been severed. The forensic surgeons who conducted the postmortem opine that the attack happened at close distance which is why the cut was deep and resulted in excessive blood loss. This has raised the question of whether Abhishek had received any training before the murder. 

The cruel crime happened at around 11.25 on Friday morning, the first day of the last semester exams held at Pala St. Thomas College, Kottayam. Abhishek left the exam hall by 11 and waited on the way. He gave Nithina her phone that he had taken from her before. 

He expressed angst as she talked to her mother over the phone and started shouting at her. As the argument mounted, the accused got hold of Nithina and pushed her down. He held her down and slit her throat using the paper cutter, the police said. The students and other college staff who came running to the scene informed the police about the matter. Although Nithina was rushed to the hospital. She could not be saved.
