Kollam, Kerala: Kottarakkara Police have registered a case against Malayalam film director and Bigg Boss Malayalam winner Akhil Marar for allegedly making statements that undermine the integrity of the nation. The case was filed under Section 152 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which is a non-bailable offence.

Complaint filed by BJP leader

The complaint was lodged by Aneesh Kizhakkekkara, president of the BJP's Kottarakkara mandalam (local party unit), who accused Marar of making anti-national remarks on social media. Acting on the complaint, the police registered the case on the previous day.

Remarks linked to Pahalgam attack

According to the police, the case pertains to a Facebook post made by Marar in the context of the recent Pahalgam attack and the subsequent developments. As per the First Information Report (FIR), the post was allegedly made with the intent to harm the sovereignty, unity, and integrity of the nation.
