
Malayalam author and screenplay writer P V Shajikumar won the Swami Vivekananda Yuva Prathibha Award, instituted by the Kerala State Youth Welfare Board, for the year 2020. Mathrubhumi News senior reporter Jithin Chandran won the Yuva Award in the Visual Media category.
The award was introduced to encourage young talents from different sectors such as literature, journalism, art, agriculture, sports, entrepreneurship and social service. Youth and Yuva clubs showcasing best performance at state and district levels are also honoured with the award.

The award comprises a cash prize of Rs 50,000, a memento and a citation. The best Youth-Yuva clubs in the district will be awarded Rs 30,000 and the best Youth-Yuva clubs in the state will be awarded Rs 50,000 along with a memento and citation.
Minister for Fisheries, Culture and Youth Affairs Saji Cheriyan will present the awards to the winners at the function to be held at Central Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram at around 3.30 pm on March 31. The function will be presided over by Minister Antony Raju.
Kamarul Hakeem (Social Service), Jithin Chandran M (Visual Media), V P Nisar (Print media), Kalamandalam Sharmila (Arts), Rajani S R (Fine Arts), Sreeshankar, Sandra Babu (Sports), Sujith S P (Agriculture), Mohammed Hizamudheen (Entrepreneurship), Dr Rosita Kuniyil (Science) are the winners of the award.
